Welcome to the world of technology! It is amazing that such high technological advances have been created and incorporated into our classrooms. The teachers of today have an advantage over those of yesterday in the sense that information can come to them in a click of the mouse! Also, the classroom can come to you online, rather than you coming to the classroom.
The Education and Technology Club can open so many doors for you! For instance, you will get a better understanding of the education field. The practice, techniques, skills,and experience you gain now, will mold you as you go off into your future teaching career. It is to your benefit to be part of such an enthusiastic team of future educators. Thinking, creativity, employability, and technological skills will develop by networking together. The best part of this comradery is that relationships will flourish, not only for the remainder of your student life, but also for the rest of your teaching career. So, now it is your turn to take that leap and be a part of the Education and Technology Club!
Of course, there are many opportunities to be gained, such as, scholarships, sharing ideas, networking with other future and current teachers, assistance in learning new software applications, etc. Obviously, the most important gain is seeing how real-life teachers work in the technological world of today.
Not only do you gain experience within the classroom, but you also get a good sense of the technology you will be using in this career by having hands-on experience through community service, workshops, and projects.
Isn't it great to give back to the community? Well, here is your opportunity to get out there and use what you have learned! Tutoring, mentoring, brainstorming/assisting in promoting technology, and school volunteering are just some of the few ways you can plant your seed into the community. Now watch as it grows?
Don't worry if you are not an "Einstein" in technology. In order to better your understanding, we have provided useful workshops that will exfoliate your technological skills. Who knows...you might be surprised about your hidden talents! Podcasting, creating a website, a blog, a gradebook, building a resume, working with Microsoft Office, photoshops, and Children's Educational Software are some of the few workshops in which you can uncover your hidden skills.
Now, once you have learned and discovered your talents, it is your opportunity to use them by working on Education and Technology Club projects. For instance, creating bulletin boards, flyers, newsletters, presentations, and fundraisers, are all sorts of ways you can add your personal touch to the club. To go way beyond, you will also be given the opportunity to shine by coming up with creative concepts for the Education Symposiums, League of Innovation, Faculty Mentor/Mentee Technology Fair, and even the FFMT Conference.
You will be ecstatic to know that this club does not discriminate! All majors are welcome!!! If you have a niche for learning and/or teaching and want to help the community and to show off your great networking skills, come to the Education and Technology Club. Our doors are always open!
